The Dog Rescue Worker Course Certificate (Level 2) is the perfect learning opportunity for people who want to work in a rescue centre or gain employment with one of the animal welfare organisations and charities.
This is an ideal foundation for all who really want to help abandoned, sick and homeless dogs. Dogs arrive in rescue for many reasons – unwanted pets, handed in due to illness or death of their owner, handed in as strays or removed from abusive situations.
If helping rescue dogs is something that you are passionate about and would like to turn into a profession, you will need to be certified. At the Canine Behaviour College in Cambridgeshire, we have proven experience and a track record of successful graduates.
The rescue worker course consists of two modules, both designed to help you become a successful professional, equipped with all necessary skills and knowledge. This level 2 is a foundation course, providing access to the level 3 Kennel Assistant course. The course is worth a total of 20 hours of continuing professional development (CPD).
The first module will provide you with the basic knowledge of the many responsibilities that a dog rescue worker has. You will also learn about the theory of dominance in relation to behavioural management and handling. Module 1 examines the various roles available in rescue work and what these roles entail.
This is the second part of the course that will focus on the way canines use their bodies to communicate with others. During this part of the course, you will focus on reading the dog behaviour and handling the distress signals you notice.
You will also learn about using the environment for reducing canine stress, preventing future problem behaviour and changing undesirable habits. Providing environmental stimulation is essential for all dogs but particularly important for those dogs in a kenneled environment. Module 2 takes a close look at various ways to provide rescue dogs with mental and physical stimulation.
About Canine Behaviour College
The Canine Behaviour College team puts animal welfare on the top of our
priority list. We work closely with our students, hoping that one day
become top experts in the respective field. This is why we not allocate a
timeframe to our courses. The amount of time spent on each
certification course depends entirely on the individual student’s
abilities and preferences.
There are no standard tests and exams because we base the assessment on actual field experience.
