Canine Hydrotherapy 

Hydrotherapy Treadmill Therapy for Small Animals [T/504/6475] is a Level-3 course that consists of one theory module and a full-day Intensive Practical Placement. The theory lesson teaches dog trainers and caregivers to complete a hydrotherapy treadmill session effectively and safely. The training breaks the overall session into three segments:

• Pre-treatment
• Treatment session
• Post-treatment

Completion of the course will earn you three credits, and you can use those credits towards the Diploma Qualification. You must complete the Level 3 Certificate in Hydrotherapy for Small Animals before you can take this training module.

Small Animal and Canine Hydrotherapy Course Details:

The theory portion of this training course starts with an introduction to the equipment used for hydrotherapy treadmill sessions. That is followed by training in the founding principles of applying hydrotherapy to dogs and other small animals.

You’ll learn what canine medical conditions respond best to this form of treatment and how to determine a dog’s suitability. By the end of the training, you’ll also know how to create hydrotherapy treadmill programmes that are effective and how to monitor the treatment and results over time. This will include some training in canine physiology and anatomy, which is required to understand how the treatment works.

This portion of the course includes the following training plus much more:

• How to position and setup an aquatic treadmill
• Preparation of the treatment area
• How to prepare a dog for treatment
• How to educate clients prior to therapy
