Continued Professional Development
This course counts for 16 hours Continued Professional Development (CPD)
The 2 day canine dog training practical course, is setup to help students learn a practical approach to training, while exploring the world of the dog trainer. As a continued professional development course, it also counts for 16 hours, for students who need to increase their number of hours.
While taking this canine dog training course, students can expect to learn about canine body language, the various types of training available, and how to both prevent and deal with canine behavioural problems when they arise. This means students will have a complete overview of what they need to know, in order to provide effective dog training once they have completed this course.
Since this canine dog training course is hands on, those who plan on working with dogs in the future will find that there is no better choice out there. However, it is important that those who are interested in taking the course do register early. Due to the intensity of the course and to ensure that students have the best learning experience possible, the course does have a maximum of four participants for each session. That means the sooner you register, the better your chances are of being in a course that will work with your schedule.
On the first day of training, there is a look at intensive theory. This means students will take a deeper look at dog training in general. They will look at both operant and classical conditioning, the use of both positive and negative reinforcement, and habituation. There is also a look at shaping and forward chaining in this course. As the day progresses, students will also look at canine body language and how to better read it. Then they will take a look at setting up and running a training class. The day then ends with a look at the most common behavioural problems that students face, and how they can solve problems and make referrals.
The second day of the course will focus on the practical training of different breeds of dogs. Students will have a chance to work with at least two different dogs so they can better hone their skills. There is also a look at how to do intensive indoor and outdoor training, along with a practical assessment to determine the advancement of students.
It is important that there are only four slots available for each session and the next date a course is available is:
Students are expected to attend the course prepared for learning over the course of an intensive day. It is important to note that no outside animals are allowed. No dogs belonging to students will be allowed to attend the course.
Those interested in this course should register today and secure their spot. If a future day works better for students, they should take the time to contact the school’s administration department to determine what dates are available. That way, they can find a set of dates that will work with their schedule.
